Supported Bluetooth profiles and services

Your BlackBerry device is a Bluetooth Smart Ready device, and supports the following profiles. If your device is associated
with a work account, your administrator might disable use of a profile.

Profile

Description

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) This profile allows your BlackBerry device to stream audio files from

Bluetooth enabled devices that support stereo audio such as stereo
headsets, speakers, and car kits.

Alert Notification Service (ANS)

This profile allows Bluetooth enabled devices to access notifications you
receive on your device, including information about the type of notification,
the sender of the notification, and the number of new and unread
notifications.

Audio/Video Remote Control Profile
(AVRCP)

This profile allows you to use the buttons on a Bluetooth enabled headset
to perform actions such as adjusting the volume or playing the next or
previous media file on your BlackBerry device. This profile also allows you
to browse music files in the Music app on your device when you are
connected to a Bluetooth enabled car kit.

Battery Service (BAS)

This profile allows Bluetooth enabled devices to access information about
the power level of the battery in your device.

Current Time Service (CTS)

This service allows your device to share time-related information with other
Bluetooth enabled devices.

Device Identification Profile (DI) / Device
Identification Service (DIS)

This profile allows Bluetooth enabled devices to access information about
your BlackBerry device model to support plug and play features, such as
automatically downloading the required drivers.

Hands-Free Profile (HFP)

This profile allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth
enabled headsets and car kits to make hands-free phone calls. This profile
supports features in the Phone app including voice dial, redial, and
conference calls.

Human Interface Device (HID)

This profile allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth
enabled devices such as a keyboard or mouse.

Immediate Alert Service (IAS)

This service allows Bluetooth enabled devices to send an immediate alert,
such as a public safety message, to your device.

Description

Link Loss Service (LLS)

This service sends a notification to your BlackBerry device when your
device loses its Bluetooth connection with another Bluetooth enabled
device.

Location and Navigation Service (LNS)

This profile allows Bluetooth enabled devices to access location related
information on your device (for example, to support outdoor activity apps).

Low Energy Human Interface Device
(HOGP)

This profile allows you to connect your BlackBerry device to Bluetooth
enabled devices such as a keyboard or mouse.

Message Access Profile (MAP)

This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled car kit to notify you of new
messages on your BlackBerry device. This profile allows a car kit to access
your messages and lets you read, delete, browse, compose, and send email
and text messages from your car.

Next DST Change Service (NDCS)

This service allows your device to share information about the next daylight
savings time change with other Bluetooth enabled devices.

Object Push Profile (OPP)

This profile allows your BlackBerry device to send files to and receive files
from a Bluetooth enabled device. Files supported by this profile include
contacts, calendar events, and multimedia files such as pictures, audio
files, and video files.

Personal Area Networking - User/Network
Access Point (PAN - U/NAP)

This profile allows you to use your BlackBerry device as a modem when it's
connected to a Bluetooth enabled computer.

Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)

This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled car kit to access contact
information and recent call history information on your BlackBerry device.
This profile allows the car kit to place a call to a contact or display the
contact name for an incoming call.

Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP)

This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled device, such as a car phone, to
connect to your BlackBerry device when your device is connected to a
GSM network. The profile lets the Bluetooth enabled device use the SIM
card functionality of your BlackBerry device. For example, a car phone can
use the SIM card in your device to make phone calls or send and receive
text messages.

Serial Port Profile (SPP)

This profile allows you to connect your device to Bluetooth enabled devices
that support desktop connectivity, wireless bypass, and data transfer.

Tx Power Service (TPS)

This service allows a Bluetooth enabled device to access information about
the current transmit power levels of your BlackBerry device.
